Randall 50th. Anniversary #24 Rare "S" Variation Image
In 1988 Randall released it's very first numbered, limited edition to commemorate fifty years of legendary knife making. Only three hundred of these fabled Randall 50th. Anniversary Commemorative knives were made. All three hundred of these blades were crafted in stainless steel but none were to have been stamped with the traditional "S" adjacent to the Randall trademark. During the forging process 36 of these blades were inadvertently stamped with the Randall "S" trademark. This accident created, for the collector, an exceedingly rare and valuable variation to what has become the most desirable Randall knife of the last quarter century.
The Randall family kept the first ten Commemoratives for the museum. The shop employees purchased the next block of low serial numbers, some of which were "S" variations.
This Randall 50th. Anniversary Commemorative is serial number 024 and an "S" variation. Additionally this knife was owned by the late Dave Griffin. Dave was a Randall employee, designer of the "Griffin Handle" shape and later became the Randall shop foreman.
